HQMTP Logo High Quality Minority Teacher Preparation

This program is designed to support potential bilingual teacher candidates to complete a teaching credential in two years or less with a priority focus on participants who have math or science degree or knowledge background. All selected candidates will participate in a State approved credential program and will be placed in a high-need school district upon earning their teaching credential.

The targeted candidates are:

  1. Holders of a B.A./B.S. degree from the U.S. or a home country.
  2. Former teachers from Mexico, Vietnam, or another country who posses a minimum equivalences of a U.S. Bachelor Degree and high academic proficiency in English.

Requirements

The candidates must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident and have lived in California for at least one year.
  • Possess high proficiency in English and fluency in another language.
  • Hold a BA/BS degree or equivalence either from the home country or the U.S (We will assist in the evaluation of Non-U.S. degrees and transcripts.
  • Demonstrate high academic achievement based on examination of current and past transcripts, certificates, and degrees.
  • Commit to complete the program and become a credentialed teacher.
  • Commit to teach at least three year in assigned or approved schools.
