Leadership and Policy

CLMER's work provides and catalyzes multicultural leadership development for diverse stakeholders, including students, parents, teachers, administrators, school staff, university faculty/staff, community-based/nonprofit personnel and other community members.

CLMER's projects and services help to link effective leadership with research and promising practices. Resulting policies and practices support the ultimate aim of public education and community development for an inclusive, creative, democratic society.

CLMER staff members provide expert testimony and work on committees to design policies at the local, state and national levels in areas such as literacy education, teacher preparation and telecommunications policy.

For the past several years CLMER has hosted and helped to facilitate the development of the Asian and Pacific American Forum (APA Forum), a national network predominantly comprised of Southeast Asian and Pacific Island educators and community leaders. Members of the APA Forum have served as advisors to both Democratic and Republican administrations at the federal level.

CLMER's School-Home-Community Collaboration Institutes include a key strand of leadership development for parents as well as for teachers and administrators, to promote effective, collaborative teams.
