Welcome to the CLMER Work Study Student Program Page

CLMER has received inquiries from other schools in LBUSD and other districts who are interested in placing our work study tutor/mentors at their sites. CLMER is also working closely with organizations including the Cambodian Family Literacy Program, the Carmelitos Housing Community, and the CSULB Center for Community Engagement to place work study tutor/mentors in after-school programs sponsored by these groups.

CLMER professional staff, in collaboration with the CSULB Center for Community Engagement, are currently developing more intensive leadership training that will be implemented in Spring 2007. This training will provide work study tutors with opportunities to reflect on their tutoring experiences within a multi-disciplinary academic context led by a team of university faculty with expertise on service learning. Additionally, CLMER staff will be providing more in-depth content regarding first/second language development and basic strategies for working with English Learners which will be implemented in early Fall 2006.

Local schools and districts interested in placing CLMER Work Study tutor/mentors can contact Leticia Collins or Anastasia Amabisca for more information.

CSULB students interested in joining the CLMER work study team can contact Leticia Collins.
